Keep everyone on the same page!

Brenda is a Product Manager for an online media company. Her daily activities include talking to the development team, talking to the customers, and translating business requirements into a language that the engineering team understands.

A key part of her job is keeping all stakeholders informed about progress of the product roadmap. She believes that it's always better to over-communicate rather than under-communicate.

To make sure everyone is on the same page, she has set up a big monitor to show the stories that the team is currently working on, along with the progress towards the next release.

In addition, Brenda has subscribed all interested parties to receive a weekly email report on the team's status. That way she can be sure that no one can say they haven't been informed. Her team benefits as well. More transparency mean less distractions for the team members.

Transparency also helps when a project is late. Since progress has been visible all along, being late doesn't come as a surprise to anyone involved. So there's less pressure on the team and they can focus on completing the project.
