Advanced custom charts now available for all users 📊

We hope you are healthy and well despite these exceptional times. We have been remote-friendly company since the beginning and used to working from more than one location. So work-wise there’s no disruption in our operations. We continue doing what we can do best which is shipping new features. We are happy to let you know that the new custom charts feature has progressed from beta and is now available for all users.

It’s a feature we had been working on for quite some time already before the current epidemic. It brings several new chart types such as line charts, dual axis line charts, scatter plot, stacked bar charts, and multi-bar charts. In addition, there’s the special List view, which allows creating reports of individual tasks. This release also introduces the new chart editor which allows you to create any of those charts from the underlying data.

New chart types

This release brings you several new charts including line charts, dual axis line chart, bar charts, scatter plot chart, and the list view chart. To create a new custom chart, select Add ► Create custom chart… from the main menu:

You will be brought to the new chart editor which allows you to give a name for the chart and pick a data source, such as a Jira board. You can also specify the chart type:

You have all the task properties available in the metric menu including any of your custom fields:

Once you’ve configured the chart, it will appear under the Charts tab. This tab shows all the charts created in your account as live thumbnails.

When you’re within a dashboard, you can get to this view by clicking Exit dashboard under the main menu.

Each chart comes with a context menu that allows performing various tasks such as editing, duplicating, or deleting the chart. Once you’re done with the editing, you can add it to a dashboard. by selecting assign to dashboard.

Once you assign a custom chart in the dashboard, it will be placed as the last screen in the selected dashboard:

When a custom chart is added to a dashboard, it can be set on rotation on a TV or shared with anyone via the public share link feature. You can add as many custom charts to your dashboard as is allowed by your plan.

New List view chart for creating reports

We’ve added a special chart type, List view, for creating lists of tasks. It allows to create reports of tasks based on filter criteria. In addition of any of the standard filters, you can also filter the list based on any of the status metrics that are available in the Tasks Status screen allowing you to easily surface e.g. tasks that are overdue or blocked.

Once you save the settings, you’ll get the report:

You can choose the columns that are shown in the report and you can sort by clicking the column headers. The export menu allows exporting the data in CSV of JSON.
