Improved quick filter, chart click-throughs, change percentages, and more

Apr 9, 2025

In this first release for the year 2025, we'll highlight some notable new features introduced in Q1. We have improved the quick filter functionality, introduced some new clickthroughs to the charts, and enabled the display of change percentages in Table chart. We've also added support for time-tracking metrics for Jira, issue types for GitHub, and formulas for monday.com and Asana.

Read on to learn what's new in Screenful!

Quick filter improvements

You can now limit the number of items shown in a quick filter. You can do that by setting a filter inside the chart editor and enabling a quick filter for the same property. Let's assume you want to have a quick filter for Label, but want it to include only subset of labels. First select the labels you want by setting a filter for the chart:

In the chart settings, use the toggle to enable the quick filter for Label:

Now the quick filter contains only the items that were explicitly included in the filter:

When you enable a quick filter for a chart, it will be present when the chart is shared with a link, embedded in a website, or added to a report.

Change percentages in Table chart

You can now compare metrics between time periods with the Table chart. When you select week, month, or quarter as the row for the chart, you can enable the display of the trend in the chart settings:

When checked, the chart displays the change percentage for the selected column:

The percentage is calculated by comparing each week/month/quarter with the previous one. The percentage shows the change (increase or decrease) between the values.

The percentage is shown by default for all new charts. For existing charts, you need to enable it in the chart settings.

More chart click-throughs

We've added more click-throughs to our charts. In addition to the Number chart, Bar chart, and Table chart, You can now also click through from Stacked bar, Burndown, and the Workload charts. When you click a chart, a modal is shown listing the items that were used to calculate the number.

The columns in the list are automatically selected based on the selections you've made in the chart editor so that you'll see the most relevant details for each item.

Formula field support for Monday and Asana

We've added support for Formula fields in monday.com and Asana. Formula fields can be used as units in the charts. When creating a chart, formula fields are selectable in the unit menu:

In this example, the unit menu contains two Number fields: Budget and Spent. There is also a formula field Remaining, which shows the difference between the budget and what has been spent. When you select Remaining as the unit for the chart, you'll see the sum of Remaining:

When you click through the number, you'll see the individual items and how much is Remaining per each item:

Time tracking reports for Jira

We've now added support for time tracking metrics for Jira (in addition to Asana and monday.com). If you have enabled time tracking on any of your Jira boards, the Work logged will be automatically imported and made available for Screenful charts.

The easiest way to create a time-tracking report is using a report template. Go to the Reports tab and click Add new report. A modal opens, showing the available templates. Select Time tracking report:

A report is created containing time tracking data from the selected Jira boards:

You can create charts using time-tracking data from your top-level issues, subtasks, or both. You can choose between these options by setting a filter (use the filter Issue type).

Issue types for GitHub

You can now group and filter charts by GitHub Issue type such as Task, Bug, or Feature. When you create a chart, there's an option Issue type available in the group by menu:

Here's a example chart showing the number of issues by type:

The Issue type property is available for all GitHub data sources (projects or repositories) and can be used for grouping and filtering data.
